Raw is War - December 14th, 1998
The Corporation vs. D-Generation X
The show opens with a backstage shot of Vince McMahon addressing the whole of Team Corporate. He says that tonight it starts with The Outlaws, then they’ll run right through Triple H and then deal with Kane. What does he mean by that? This is only how the show begins on the WWE Network. In reality, this show opened with DX coming to the ring dressed as the different members of Team Corporate and parodying them. It has been removed from the network as, much like when they did it to The Nation in the summer, Triple H wore blackface to pretend to be The Rock.
In a rematch from Rock Bottom, The Outlaws defend the tag titles once again against the Corporate team of Hardcore and Intercontinental Champions Bossman and Shamrock. The challengers have the Corporate commissioner Shawn Michaels with them again. The commentators talk a lot about the DX parody of The Corporation segment that opened the show during this match. As I mentioned, it's missing from the Network version of the show because of Triple H wearing blackface. Bossman and Shamrock isolate Billy Gunn and work over his leg, stripping his knee pad down to his ankle to expose it. HBK tries to help Bossman and Shamrock with a chairshot to Roaddogg but he kicks out and DX keeps fighting. In the end as Billy argues with Michaels, he clocks him with Bossman’s nightstick and Shamrock locks the ankle lock on an unconscious Billy Gunn to win the match. Bossman and Shamrock standing together both holding up their two title belts each is an awesome visual. There aren’t many times in WWF history where a set of tag champs were also both singles champions.
Triple H vs. The Rock for the WWF title is the main event. The Rock challenged Triple H to this match because he was so angry about the parody segment earlier tonight. He wanted a non-title but Triple H goaded The Rock into putting the title on the line in order to get the match. Triple H has Chyna with him and The Rock has the WWF’s corporate commissioner Shawn Michaels with him which is a wild visual. During the brawl The Rock puts Michael Cole’s headset on and says that Triple H “looks like Tarzan but wrestles like Jane” and slams him into the announce table. The two wrestle for a bit and it's more of a real match than I’d have expected. Chyna low blows The Rock while Triple H has the referee distracted and Triple H almost wins off a DDT and then a Pedigree but Shawn pulls the referee out of the ring. In the end, it's the debut of a new Corporate team member that makes the difference as a huge blonde man in sunglasses pumphandle slams Triple H allowing The Rock to pin and retain his championship. It’s Test, is the debut of Test and Cole and King remember him from playing Motley Crew’s bodyguard a couple of months ago. Literally no one else will, but it’s nice they tried to connect the dots. The show ends with HBK, The Rock and the unnamed Test celebrating.
Vince McMahon; Pro-wrestler
We see a rotating drum full of numbered balls - Vince is going to reveal Stone Cold’s entry number in the 1999 Royal Rumble tonight!
Vince and Shane McMahon come out together to their usual chorus of “asshole” chants. Vince says they have a “real bad taste in their mouths' ' He means when Mankind locked the mandible claw on them both with Mr. Socko. Mankind is going to pay and maybe even tonight. The bad taste is also because Stone Cold Steve Austin has qualified for the Royal Rumble match. Oh so that’s what their issue is with Kane. Kane helped Austin win. In a two birds with one stone type deal, Vince books Mankind vs. Kane in a no holds barred match tonight. But for now, they’re going to choose Stone Cold’s Royal Rumble entry number “at random” . It's number one. Shane says that he thinks it's unfair, and since it's the holiday season they’ll give him another chance and pick another number. Shane pulls another ball. It’s also number one. Vince sweetens the deal and offers a $100k bounty for the man who eliminates Stone Cold. He says that there is another man who will be announced for the Royal Rumble match. Someone who is a bigger star than Stone Cold and who could easily save WCW but he works for the WWF. Shane gives a big build up and reveals that it's Vince McMahon himself. He’s going to be in the Royal Rumble match. They draw Vince’s number too - he’s number thirty. He promises that Stone Cold will never ever be WWF champion again. Before they leave the ring Mankind appears on the titantron. He says that fighting Kane sounds fun but he’d rather face “the newest superstar in the WWF'' Vince McMahon himself!
Mr. McMahon is too proud to be smart and decides that yes, he will fight Mankind tonight and we get a couple of skits of him getting ready including Vince showing off his muscles.
Mankind and Kane in a no holds barred match is still happening despite Vince accepting Mankind’s challenge for later tonight too. The match starts fast and the two trade big blows. Kane hits Mankind with the ring steps but he shrugs it off. As it goes on, Vince McMahon comes out in his fighting clothes and says that if Mankind wants him then it’ll be on his terms. He wants Mankind to come out to the parking lot and fight him in a street fight. Mankind follows up the ramp, apparently abandoning his match with Kane. During a commercial break, orderlies rushed the ring with Bossman and Shamrock as Kane was still there and with the help of a nightstick beating by Bossman and an ankle lock by Ken Shamrock, they managed to get a straight jacket onto Kane and he was carted out and loaded into an ambulance.
Vince and Shane have had Kane committed as punishment for helping Stone Cold win buried alive. We then cut to the parking lot as Mankind is savagely beating Vince McMahon from pillar to post, slamming him into fences and doors and roughing him up. Patterson and Brisco try to make the save but Mankind sees them off and then puts on Mr. Socko for a mandible claw on Mr. McMahon. The Rock arrives in time to save Vince and plants Mankind with a brutal Rock Bottom on the hood of a white car, crumpling the metal beneath them! What a wild and chaotic 15 minutes.
Other Happenings
- Val Venis and The Godfather are the first out in front of the live crowd. They’re facing The Brood in tag team action. It's actually Edge and Christian for the first time rather than Edge and Gangrel. Christian shows off some mat wrestling and a kip up which I’m highlighting because Christian is my boy. The match is too short to be good and Val pins Christian with a fisherman suplex. Post match a furious Gangrel promises a bloodbath tonight.
- The Blue Blazer is in action tonight. Steve Blackman has some pre-match comments where he says that Owen ran away from his last night at the PPV and calls him “a dirty little nugget” Gross. The Blazer is facing Goldust. Goldust has the match won with the Curtain Call but sets up Shattered Dreams at the crowds urging. Jeff Jarrett runs in and saves The Blazer and causes a DQ but during the melee, Steve Blackman runs in too and finally unmasks the Blazer. It IS Owen Hart!
- Tiger Ali Singh (without Babu and new shorts ring gear) is facing Gangrel. Before this match in his locker room the word “Bloodbath” was written on the wall. As Tiger makes his entrance and gets to the ring, the lights go out and Gangrel’s music plays. Tiger decides to bail but before he gets far The Brood surround him and he takes a beating and when the lights come back on, he’s covered in fake blood.
- Mark Henry is officially Sexual Chocolate with the theme song and everything. He and D’Lo are accompanied by Terri and Jacqueline again. Before the match, Mark tells us all the details on he and Chyna’s date. He says they had sex, basically. They’re facing the JOB Squad’s Bob Holly and Scorpio. They have Al Snow, The Blue Meanie and the Light Heavyweight Champion Duane Gill at ringside with them. Terri flirts with Meanie and Gill at ringside and while everyone is distracted, Jackie comes off the top rope with a dropkick on Bob Holly which lets Mark Henry pin him with a big bodyslam.
- Jeff Jarrett vs. Steve Blackman in a “guitar on a pole” match because Vince Russo. Jeff before the match says that Debra will never strip again but she interrupts and says she had a lot of fun at the PPV and might strip again tonight. Also because Vince Russo. I’ve commented on this before but this must be about the 800th time I’ve watched Jeff Jarrett wrestle Steve Blackman in 1998. They go for pinfalls which makes me wonder what the point of the guitar on the pole is. Blackman goes to climb for one but Debra distracts him and starts to remove her jacket. This allows Jarrett to get the guitar but as he and Blackman both try and fail to use it, Owen Hart runs in and smashes the guitar over Blackman’s head allowing Jarrett to win.
Raw is War - December 21st, 1998
Shane O’Mac; large and in charge
The show opens with Vince McMahon getting into his limo. He’s off for a workout to get ready for the Royal Rumble and says when he returns he’ll have “a real big bonus for the entire corporation” and leaves Shane in charge. “Don’t let your ego or your temper get you in trouble” Shane rushes off to the arena. He has things to do, as Patterson and Brisco jog after him trying to keep up. After the Raw intro, Shane leads the entire Corporation the ring (to a jazzy little piece of synth music) including Test who now has a name, Bossman and Shamrock each with their two title belts, a Santa hat wearing Shawn Michaels and WWF Champion The Rock. Before Shane can speak, DX’s music interrupts and the entire group comes out onto the stage. Triple H brings Mankind out too and he makes an X with his arms and tries to be a part of the gang. Triple H says that Shane is an even bigger asshole than his dad. Shawn Michaels books Bad Ass Billy Gunn against Ken Shamrock and Roaddogg against The Big Bossman, plus Triple H and X-Pac vs. the Corporate Champion The Rock and the Corporate insurance policy Test. Shane calls Mankind a freak and says that he’ll pay for laying his hands on his father last week and Shane wants to face him tonight. Patterson and Brisco look very worried - Vince said they were responsible for keeping Shane safe tonight - and Mankind and Triple H do a huge overexaggerated laugh complete with rolling on the floor laughing. Mankind joins in with the “suck it” and Mankind is acting like best friends with DX which is a lot of fun to see.
Billy Gunn challenges Ken Shamrock for the Intercontinental title. Doesn’t massively make sense that Shawn Michaels would make this a title match given that he’s trying to punish DX but that’s ok. Shamrock works over Billy’s leg as he still has a bad knee from last week’s Tag Team title match. The finish comes out of nowhere as Billy counters an attempted hurricanrana into a victory roll for the three count! Billy Gunn has won the title and is handed the belt but before he can celebrate, the Corporate commissioner comes out. He says Billy has a million dollar body but a 2 cent brain. He says that he made this match but he never once said it would be a title match! I knew that seemed odd. He says Tony Chimmel (the ring announcer who said this was an IC title match) is an idiot and made a mistake and that this was a non-title match. Billy moons HBK and Shamrock clotheslines him and the two Corporation members leave together.
The Roaddogg takes on one half of the tag team champions and the current hardcore champion The Big Bossman. They’re clear about this one being non-title. Before the match starts, Roaddogg suggests Bossman puts his hardcore title on the line. He makes some gay jokes about his kayfabe time working as a prison officer and calls him “chicken shit” so Bossman agrees to the title match just so he can use weapons and punish Roaddogg in a hardcore rules match. Bossman dominates early but Roaddogg gets control with a shot from a stop sign and a near fall on the floor. Bossman almost kills Roaddogg throwing the ring steps at him which bounce violently off the ringpost. Bossman tries to use some powder but gets it kicked back in his own face and then Roaddogg whips Bossman with his own belt before they brawl out into the crowd. Bossman shows off why this hardcore version of him is one of my boys as he wrestles in basically body armour and has a variety of weapons in his pockets including his nightstick, extending baton and some rope tied into a noose which he chokes Roaddogg with! He’s built for the hardcore title. Roaddogg recovers with a big plastic trash can over Bossman’s head and then jumps off the stands onto him. Bossman uses the rope still around Roaddogg’s neck and whips him into the metal fencing but Mankind appears from the stands and throws a big net over Bossman! That lets Roaddogg hit him with his own nightstick and win the hardcore title! The Roaddogg is the third man to hold the WWF Hardcore Championship.
Patterson and Brisco try to talk Shane out of wrestling Mankind tonight in a couple of different segments. King hums the Rocky theme as Shane jogs through the back which made me laugh.
Shane McMahon comes out to the Brawl for All music with Patterson and Brisco still trying hard to talk him out of taking this match. He seems extremely confident for some reason. This is Shane’s first ever match which is very exciting for me as a huge Shane McMahon fan. Mankind is still using the slightly more upbeat remix of his original theme and doesn’t have his proper new babyface theme yet. Brisco distracts Mankind which lets Shane get a couple of punches in which Mankind no-sells. The rest of the Corporation; Commissioner Michaels, WWF Champ The Rock, Test, Bossman and his tag team championship partner Intercontinental Champion Ken Shamrock, come out to watch the match from the top of the ramp. Shawn Michaels looks to be stopping the rest of them from helping Shane. Mankind gets the mic and grabs a steel chair handing it to Shane and daring him to hit him. “Show some balls you gutless coward” Shane hits Mankind in the back as hard as he can but Mankind is unphased. Brisco and Patterson try to rescue the boy-wonder but Mankind beats the hell out of them too. As he prepares to clamp on the mandible claw with Mr. Socko, Shawn Michaels continues to stop the rest of Team Corporate from getting involved. The Rock has seen enough through and rushes the ring to brawl with Mankind. DX sprints to the ring and holds the rest of the Corporation at bay as X-Pac gives the bronco buster to Shane. Shamrock does eventually manage to get Shane out of the ring and the Corporation carry him up the ramp. After a replay of the whole ordeal, Patterson and Brisco are out in the parking lot waiting for Vince McMahon to return worried about what Vince is going to do to them for letting this befall his son.
Another skit of Pat and Gerry waiting for Vince to return. Patterson tells Gerry to let him do all the talking but Brisco runs right to the limo “it wasn’t my fault” and makes it sound like Shane has died or something. Vince panics and runs off into the arena.
All five members of DX - including new Hardcore champion Roaddogg and Chyna who has apparently dropped her story with Mark Henry now - come out with European Champion X-Pac and Triple H for their tag team match with WWF Champion The Rock and “Corporate Insurance Policy '' Test. During his pre-match promo, Billy Gunn lies between Triple H’s legs and gets a case of the giggles which Triple H lets us hear with the mic. That was funny, you really get the sense these lads are all best friends and have a laugh. Test looks massive next to the already pretty huge himself Corporate Champion The Rock. This is a good match with Test getting a chance to show off what he can do in his first televised match (not much) Before the match started, Shawn Michaels tried to eject DX from ringside but Vince McMahon returned and said that since he's in the holiday spirit, DX can stay. The Rock and Shawn seem shocked by this but he reassures them that it’ll be fine. Vince is probably pretty angry about losing the Hardcore title earlier, and Shane taking a beating but he cracks a big smile for the Corporate Elbow. The finish speeds up and DX might have the match won but the arena lights go out and Kane enters! He was institutionalised by The McMahons last week so one would assume he’s here for revenge but instead he chokeslams Triple H! Michael Cole exclaims that THIS, Kane, is the big Corporate Christmas bonus. Kane chokeslams X-Pac and both Outlaws too and almost chokeslams The Rock but all of Team Corporate are there to keep him focused. Chyna has no fear and gets in Kane’s face despite the massive numbers odds against her and the show goes off the air with Kane grabbing her by the throat too at McMahon’s urging.
Sexual Chocolate
Mark Henry apparently has a couple of girls in his locker room waiting for him. D’Lo implores him to focus on their match tonight but Mark is Sexual Chocolate and is going to go and see the ladies. His date seemed to go well with Chyna but now he’s claiming he slept with her and now he’s fooling around with other girls?
Another Mark Henry and D’Lo segment and we find out that the two ladies who want to spend time with Sexual Chocolate are Terri Runnels and Jacqueline.
Terri and Jackie tell Mark Henry they’re going to take a shower together while Mark watches. D’Lo Brown is very frustrated watching the door. He just wants to get ready for their match. We see Mark actually watching them in the shower too. I don’t really know where this is going.
More Mark Henry nonsense as Terri and Jacqueline - now in nightwear - strip Mark Henry down to his underwear and put a collar around his neck before helping him onto a massage table. They put a ball gag in his mouth and spray whipped cream all over his chest. D’Lo is still waiting outside and dressed to compete. Next, they restrain him with handcuffs.
D’Lo bangs on the door, letting Mark know that their music is playing and they need to go out for their tag team match. Mark’s voice from inside the room shouts out “i’m coming, i’m coming” This is all very American Pie but I can’t hold it against them in 1998. D’Lo’s music plays a couple of times and he is eventually in position to come out for the match. It's supposed to be a tag match but Mark is busy with Terri and Jackie. His opponents are The Headbangers who still have the toy tag team title belts they started wearing during their feud with The Outlaws. A shot of Mark Henry shows a clamp in his crotch as Terri and Jackie whip Sexual Chocolate. King is beside himself reacting to it all. D’Lo meanwhile hits a running powerbomb on Mosh but Thrasher breaks up the pin. King keeps relaying details from Mark Henry’s sexcapes like an excited teenager while Michael Cole tries in vain to call this match. “Hot wax! C-Clamp in the crotch! Vibrator! How many Gerbils?” It’s very dumb. D’Lo does pretty well to hold his own against The Headbangers. He’s been a babyface for a little while I think but the fans still like chanting “D’Lo sucks” The two on one odds are too much and Mosh pins Brown after a double flapjack. Mark limps out onto the ramp after the match is over and D’Lo shouts at him for letting him down. “I told your fat ass, you should have listened to me”
Other Happenings
- Gangrel vs. Al Snow. This is a decent little match. Snow gets a good reaction from the crowd and there’s a “we want Head” chant. Al wins with the Snow Plough but before he can celebrate the lights go out and as the lights flicker red and Gangrel’s music plays Al Snow is dragged out of the ring and when the lights come back on he’s covered in fake blood. Another bloodbath by The Brood. During the break, the rest of the JOB Squad came out to check on Al and he freaked out, grabbing Head and running away from them muttering “not again” over and over.
- Hawk comes out with a massive cast on his arm (which is signed by a bunch of people) Last night on Sunday Night Heat he showed up and cost Droz a match. He’s here to tell the truth. He’s clean and sober, but Droz is the pusher man. Droz is the one who’s been supplying Hawk with drugs to make him unreliable and to steal his spot on LOD. Hawk says he’ll make Droz pay once he’s healed up and Droz jumps him. Animal runs in to make the save and sends Droz packing. The crowd loudly chants “LOD”
- Steve Blackman is taking on The Blue Blazer. Owen Hart comes out and joins commentary for this match to prove he isn’t The Blazer despite being unmasked as him last week on a Live episode of Raw. Owen attacks Blackman to cause a DQ but Goldust rescues Steve from the two on one attack. The Blue Blazer makes a getaway but Goldust catches him and with Blackman’s help unmasks him again - this week, it's Jeff Jarrett!
- The Acolytes vs. Bob Holly and Scorpio. It's pretty stiff and involves a lot of the illegal men fighting on the outside while the legal men are in the ring. The Acolytes lose via DQ when the referee has lost control. Bradshaw uses big hard powerbombs on both men.
Raw is War - December 28th, 1998
The End of the Corporate Commissioner
During the Mankind/Roaddogg match we saw Commissioner Michaels arrive at the arena. Vince marches to the ring. He’s asked Team Corporate to stay backstage and he calls out HBK. He is furious at the role Michaels played in Shane getting a beating last week and intends to fire him. The commentators have talked about this all night, during every segment with King giggling and reacting with glee to Michaels losing his job tonight. Vince runs down HBK’s career as the fans chant “asshole” Vince shows the footage last week of Shawn seemingly holding back the Corporation and stopping them from helping Shane. Vince fires HBK and Shawn responds with Sweet Chin Music! Vince is down and out! The corporate team rush the ring to get him but he escapes through the crowd, shedding his suit as he runs! And so ends the final Raw is War of 1998.
DX’s Punishment
A recap of last week’s events involving Shane being beaten up by Mankind and Kane’s shocking actions joining the Corporation includes some footage from Sunday Night Heat where Vince explains that Kane is being forced to join on threat of being sent back to the insane asylum. There’s definitely a more PC term for that, I’m sure. Vince called Kane a “genetically modified, chemically altered freak” but he’s apparently now McMahon’s pet freak. The entire Corporation including the stooges, the McMahons and yes, Kane all go into the boiler room looking for Mankind. Vince has sworn vengeance on everyone who’s responsible for Shane being beaten up last week and that he plans to fire commissioner Shawn Michaels! Mankind comes out of the shadows swinging, attacking first but he’s at a huge numbers disadvantage and is quickly beaten up and dragged out of the boiler room. Vince tells Mankind that tonight he’s going to face Roaddogg for the Hardcore title. His plan immediately falls apart as Shawn Michaels has already booked Roaddogg to defend the title against Val Venis and Roaddogg is already on his way to the ring! The match is wrestled like a normal match and as the Corporation comes out, Test gets in the ring and attacks Val Venis. The referee calls for a DQ which the commentators rightly point out makes no sense. The corporation gives Val a bit of a beating too but DX runs out to stop them from jumping Roaddogg too. Vince comes out and says that since Roaddogg is still hardcore champion he will not be able to defend the title against “your new found friend, Mankind” Vince says that as punishment for X-Pac giving a bronco buster to Shane last week he’ll defend the European title against The Bossman. Triple H is facing Shamrock for the IC title and Billy Gunn is facing The Godfather. Backstage, Vince gives Kane his marching orders, berating him and treating him like he’s stupid, shouting in his face. He makes it clear that Kane is to make sure every member of DX pays.
X-Pac defends his European title against one half of the tag team champions The Big Bossman. It’s actually pretty cool that all of the titles are so heavily involved and focused during the Corporation vs. DX feud. X-Pac is in a bad way as he took a beating from Kane during a match last night on Sunday Night Heat. Bossman dominates and uses his power to throw around X-Pac. Just as X-Pac mounts a comeback with heel kicks and a bronco buster, Test appears at ringside. He’s attacked by Val Venis who’s salty after taking a beating at the start of the show. Bossman goes out to help Test and the match ends in a DQ and X-Pac keeps the European title.
Triple H comes out with Chyna. I don’t usually comment on these things because I don’t want to be gross but Chyna is looking pretty amazing. Her outfits show off a lot more of her body since her latest round of cosmetic surgery and she looks in incredible shape. This is peak Chyna. She still never smiles though. Triple H also has The Outlaws and X-Pac with him. I guess they’ve gotten wise to The Corporation's constant numbers game. For his Intercontinental title defence, Ken Shamrock has Kane, Test and his tag team championship partner The Big Bossman with him. This is a good match with Shamrock working on Triple H’s knee. DX are so much more popular here than they were over the summer and its great to see. Triple H has the advantage but loses it by taking a moment to baseball slide Test, allowing Shamrock to take advantage. Shamrock gets the ankle lock on Triple H who powers to the ropes but when Shamrock refuses to break the hold, the referee disqualifies him. DX rushes the ring, as do Test and Bossman but Kane doesn’t want to get involved. He watches on. Patterson and Brisco run down and force Kane to enter the ring to help Team Corporate but as he finally gets in the ring DX has already escaped. After an ad break there's a quick interview with Bad Ass Billy Gunn who says that he should be Intercontinental Champion after beating Shamrock last week in what turned out to be a non-title match. Shamrock appears and the two exchange shouty words.
The Corporation are attacking The Godfather backstage as the hoes scream and cry. There’s no reason given for this, all we know about The Godfather is that he’s set to face Billy Gunn. Shane McMahon comes out to The Godfather’s music. “Pimpin’ ain’t easy'' Shane says that there's been a change and Kane’s opponent is now “Corporate Kane”. Kane has Patterson and Brisco with him. He’s a reluctant member of Team Corporate and Patterson and Brisco seem to have been assigned to making sure he does as he’s told. Shamrock chopblocks Billy on the outside which lets Kane plant him with a chokeslam. Patterson and Brisco won’t let him go for a pin and demand another chokeslam which Kane delivers. They want a third but DX runs out and rescues their comrade before that can be done.
The Corporate WWF Champion The Rock comes out to be guest commentator for Roaddogg’s second Hardcore title defence tonight against Mankind. The Rock is pretty funny making fun of both men and Michael Cole. This is a fun hardcore brawl with Mankind taking the brunt of the abuse including a backdrop on the ramp and lots of shots to the head from metal sheets and a steel chair. They fight into the crowd and Mankind delivers a big elbow drop from the stands onto Roaddogg on a table. Before he can cover, The Rock rushes over and plants Mick on the concrete with a Rock Bottom which allows Roaddogg to get the pin and retain his Hardcore title. Post-match Roaddogg is disappointed to have retained the title that way and is disgusted that The Rock helped him, even indirectly.
A mixed bag for the WWF Women’s division
Sable makes her first ever defence of the WWF Women’s Championship in the first of four title matches tonight. Five if you include that no-contest between Roaddogg and Val Venis for the Hardcore title. As she makes her entrance, “a fan” gets in the ring and gives Sable a yellow rose before being escorted out by security. The fan is future WWF womens wrestler Tori. Sable’s opponent is a woman dressed all in black who attacks Sable and whips her with a belt. The Oddities (with new member, George “The Animal” Steele) rush down to save Sable and unmask the woman - it's Luna! She has apparently turned heel, left The Oddities and wants to be WWF Women’s Champion.
Mark Henry comes out to address P.M.S which is the new collective name for Terri and Jacqueline. Pretty Mean Sisters. Mark apologises to his “girlfriend” Chyna for fooling around with them. Terri and Jackie come out and Mark is scared of them after his BDSM experience last week. D’Lo calls them ring rats but they need Mark for whatever their plans are. Chyna comes out to DX’s music and calls Mark “her man” and shoves Jacqueline across the ring, and PMS scurry away.
Other Happenings
- Al Snow - who is still in the same blood soaked clothes from his bloodbath last week - faces Edge of The Brood. Edge is even more deranged than normal and Head has all of its hair cut off this week. Al tries to use a chair but Edge stops it with an electric chair drop right onto the chair. Snow hammers Edge with headbutts. In the end, Edge wins by DQ as Snow hits Edge with Head over and over and over. Christian and Gangrel run out to save him, and then The JOB Squad run into a brawl with them. As the two groups fight, Al Snow just slides out of the ring and leaves through the crowd.
- A very funny training montage of Vince McMahon getting ready to be number 30 in the Royal Rumble. He drinks eggs and lifts weights as Shane berates him about not letting Austin “destroy their family” Vince bellows “I hate Austin” over and over as he struggles with weights. “Austin’s MINE!” This is hilarious honestly. Vince is jacked too! He even strikes a couple of classic Hogan poses and he and Shane share a laugh.
- Goldust and Steve Blackman take on Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett. Owen and Jeff are a proper tag team now, with Debra helping them defeat Godfather and Val Venis on Heat last night. As Owen locks the sharpshooter on Blackman, Dan Severn makes his way to the ring! He’s still wearing a neckbrace and this is a shock to me because I thought Severn was gone by now. The distraction allows Blackman to beat Owen with a roll up and Blackman and Goldust win.
- Backstage, Dennis Knight is in the locker room talking to X-Pac. They’re all smiles. Knight has dropped the Southern Justice gimmick and is in casual clothes. All we know is that “He” told me to be here, but we have no idea who “He” is. Later, in the parking lot, The Acolytes attack and beat up Dennis Knight, loading him into the trunk of his own car and they drive off with him! We still don’t know who the “He” that told Dennis Knight to be here tonight in the first place is.
- I almost didn’t mention it because it’s only three minutes long and nothing happens but Extra Attitude on the WWE Network has Team Corporate helping Vince to the back. While they’re doing this, Patterson trips and falls and Vince lands on top of him and Vince bursts out laughing. He’s supposed to still be selling anger and pain from the chin music but he fully corpses at Patterson’s silly flailing and acting like he can’t get back up.
